Subject: [Avodah] inter-eidah psak

with attention to the latter segment of this article by dr shapiro. there
is an ongoing discussion between rabbi gordimer and him as to whether
there are different types of psak in different eidot.
it is pointed out here that in europe , the stadt rav could have been
aguda/mizrachi , but all citizens went to him for psak , including those of
the opposite hashkafa.
it seems that somewhere in the last 50 yr the acceptability to pasken by a
gadol in the 'other' camp has fallen by the wayside-- this seems to hold
not only rt vs lt and lt vs rt , but even rt vs rt . it doesn't seem so
clear as to where hashkafa/ 'daas tora' ideologies has overridden gadlus
betorah.
unless one would say that issues that are being asked about have such a
tie to political/sociogical issues , that one can't imagine that the posek
of the other camp can be seen as capable of delivering a relevant psak...
