Rav Eliyahu Dessler, Qunterus haChessed (sec. 1 ch. 3- sec. 2, end) – Relationship ep. 24-25
The Beyond Meaningful Relationships – Relationshipful Meaning series at the kloiz meets on Wednesday nights at 8pm EDT.
If you missed anything or just want to join mid-stream, there are always the posts in The Kloiz Aspaqlaria category, which has recordings of any chaburos you may have missed from earlier meetings!
Wednesday nights (September 14th and 21st, 2022) the Beyond Meaningful Relationship – Relationshipful Meaning chaburah completed our study of Rav Dessler’s Qunterus haChessed from Mikhtav meiEilyahu vol I.
In these chaburos we learned and discussed part 1 chapter 13 and an addendum to 13 and started part 2 (ep. #24) and completed part 2 and the qunterus (ep. #25).
In chapter 13 and the addendum, Rav Dessler closes out the main body of Qunterus haChessed by discussing the relationship between giving, gratitude, love, and how they relate to our love of G-d in particular. Section 2 addresses how the Will to Take interferes with our objectivity and ability to identify the truth, and thus how the Will to Give is a necessary prerequisite to faith.
This is why the Sages comment on the Chumash, when Avraham interrupts his prophetic conversation with G-d to wait on three travelers (whom he thought were coarse pagans, no less!), that greeting guests is greater than recieving the presence of the Shechinah. Because a gift of prophecy doesn’t make full change. But giving enables greater closeness to G-d for the rest of one’s life!
